Norm's River Roadhouse

Nashville, TN 37209
Cover charge: $5
Info: www.myspace.com/normsriverroadhouse

This is a Peter Cooper and Eric Brace gig, featuring a tremendous little band that will include Jen Gunderman on accordion and keys. Norm's is nestled right up against a river, and it's one of Nashville's most inviting and acoustically superior rooms.

July 23, 12 p.m.
University of Alaska-Anchorage Student Union
3211 Providence Dr.
Anchorage, Alaska 99508

Eric Brace and I will wake early after the long and winding airplane ride to Alaska and play a short-ish nooner set at this university.

July 23, 7 p.m.
Peratrovich Park
4th Ave. and E Street
Anchorage, Alaska 99501

This one's a Peter Cooper and Eric Brace gig, outside in what will likely be the most perfect weather imaginable. I believe it was Nanci Griffith who sang, "It's a hard life, it's a hard life, it's a very hard life."

July 24, 7 p.m.
Whole Wheat Radio
E. Birch Creek Boulevard
Talkeetna, Alaska

Whole Wheat Radio has long supported quality music, and the folks at the station put on groovy concerts as well. Eric Brace and I will play together on this night.

July 25, 8 p.m.
Seldovia Rowing Club
Seldovia, Alaska, 99663
info: crazycrow@seldoviarowingclub.net

I have had many memorable gigs on many memorable stages. None were more fun or more memorable than last year at the Seldovia Rowing Club. I played outside, on a back deck with eagles flying around over the most beautiful water you could imagine. Two sets, no microphone, perfect weather. Eric Brace and I hope the same kind of thing can happen at our show there this year. Worst case scenario, we'll be in what might be the prettiest place in the United States.

July 27, 2:45 p.m.
Karen Hornaday Park
Homer, Alaska, 99603
info: www.kbbi.org

Each year, KBBI puts on the weekend-long "Concert On The Long." Eric Brace and I will play there this year, on a Sunday afternoon. Todd Snider introduced me to KBBI three years ago, and the station has been tremendously supportive ever since then. Can't wait to get back there.

August 29, 6 p.m.
Frist Center

A triple-bill of Red Beet Records acts. Fayssoux McLean, who provided glorious harmonies on many of Emmylou Harris' classic albums and whose new Early album was produced by yours truly (it features guest shots from Emmy, Ricky Skaggs, David Ball and other bigwigs, and it's GREAT: www.redbeetrecords.com), will begin around 6 p.m. I'll sing some with Fayssoux, and then I'll take the stage with my own band after that. Then it'll be Last Train Home finishing up the evening.

Ashland Coffee & Tea
100 N. Railroad Ave.
Ashland, VA 23005
cover charge: $10
info: www.ashlandcoffeeandtea.com

Looking forward to returning to this great venue near Richmond, Virginia. For those who haven't been, Ashland Coffee & Tea is like a smaller version of The Birchmere, with tremendous sound, a helpful staff and food that puts most listening rooms to shame. Well, not to shame. I mean, they shouldn't feel shame over the food stuff. But this is fine food, indeed. Anyway, Ashland Coffee & Tea is a place where luminaries like Rodney Crowell and David Olney regularly play.

Yes, I know it's weird that an event is taking place at a venue called "Tortilla Factory." But, trust me on this one. The Truman Shows is a concert series that draws some legendary performers. I am well-pleased to be playing up in Herndon at this one.
