I have had many memorable gigs on many memorable stages. None were more fun or more memorable than last year at the Seldovia Rowing Club. I played outside, on a back deck with eagles flying around over the most beautiful water you could imagine. Two sets, no microphone, perfect weather. Eric Brace and I hope the same kind of thing can happen at our show there this year. Worst case scenario, we'll be in what might be the prettiest place in the United States.

Each year, KBBI puts on the weekend-long "Concert On The Long." Eric Brace and I will play there this year, on a Sunday afternoon. Todd Snider introduced me to KBBI three years ago, and the station has been tremendously supportive ever since then. Can't wait to get back there.

A triple-bill of Red Beet Records acts. Fayssoux McLean, who provided glorious harmonies on many of Emmylou Harris' classic albums and whose new Early album was produced by yours truly (it features guest shots from Emmy, Ricky Skaggs, David Ball and other bigwigs, and it's GREAT: www.redbeetrecords.com), will begin around 6 p.m. I'll sing some with Fayssoux, and then I'll take the stage with my own band after that. Looking forward to returning to this great venue near Richmond, Virginia. For those who haven't been, Ashland Coffee & Tea is like a smaller version of The Birchmere, with tremendous sound, a helpful staff and food that puts most listening rooms to shame. Well, not to shame. I mean, they shouldn't feel shame over the food stuff. But this is fine food, indeed. Anyway, Ashland Coffee & Tea is a place where luminaries like Rodney Crowell and David Olney regularly play.
